I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

Knee Brace Prices – What is fair? 100 dollars? – Maybe $200.oo?

There are a lot of ways you can look at knee brace prices, but the bottom line is that you will want the right support, without feeling like you just paid an ‘arm and a leg’ to get the knee support you need. Hey, all of us would agree that on some level, ‘you get what you pay for’, but at the same time you do not want to get cheated either!

How To Find The Best Price For A Knee Brace

One of the best ways to find a deal on a price is to go online. You probably have already thought this through. Sure that makes sense, but now that you are online, you may be totally overwhelmed by the countless knee braces that are made readily available to you. – So what do you do? – You will probably find a picture of a brace that looks unique, and well defined, but does that mean that this is the right brace?

Never Judge A Brace By Its Cover!

Just because that one brace you saw was kind of cool looking, does not mean that it will really give you the support that you require. One of the very best things you can do for your knee, when you are buying a knee support is to determine 4 things. Once you have a handle on these 4 questions, then you will be able to figure out which knee brace you need.

1.) What is your knee stability level? Or, better yet, rate your instability on a scale 1-10. Ten being totally unstable!

2.) What is your knee pain level? Again, rate your pain level and try to figure out if it is mild, moderate, or severe.

3.) Has your doctor provided you with a diagnosis of your knee ailment?

4.) How much can you reasonably pay for a knee support?

Understanding Your Answers To These Questions

Once you have come to a conclusion with all of these things then you will be able to better determine what your knee brace needs are. You will know whether you need a knee brace for severe instability and severe pain, with a diagnosis if an ACL Rupture. Or, you will be able to determine if you only have mild knee pain, due to a grade 1 sprain. – Knee brace companies will advertise their knee braces according to these criteria. – Knowing your circumference measurement 6′ (15cm) above your knee will also help you determine your size as well.

Knee Brace Prices : Usually you will find that a more serious knee injury, like the one you may or may not have, will require more cash. But, on the other hand, what you don’t see is that if you went to a ‘brace professional’ in your area, they will charge you up to 3x the amount of the brace that you may see online! – Just a word to the wise. Once you do a little homework online, then you can save a bundle of Cash!

Free Guide To Getting A Quality Knee Brace Online

Are you trying to find a knee brace online but you need a little help? – Maybe you have seen that you can get a better deal online, but you do not know which brace to get?

Introduction : If you want to get a well designed knee brace on the internet, without paying way too much, then you should read through this free article. We are true brace specialists and can help give you some valuable information on knee supports.

When you are searching for a quality knee support, then you should think through the next 6 questions. Once you have tried to answers these questions honestly, then you will be more prepared to take your purchase to the next level.

Ask yourself these questions if you want to get on the right track to finding the best knee brace for you :

1.) Do you play any sports?

2.) When you think about your knee discomfort, where would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10? Ten being the worst.

3.) What, if any, would you rate your knee instability at? Again, the scale is 1 to 10, and ten is the worst on the scale.

4.) Do you have a budget for the brace? This information will help, not because a knee brace retailer will always try to recommend the most expensive one, but because they should try to work within your means.

5.) Do you have any form of arthritis? (Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis etc.)

6.) Do you have any other definitive diagnosis from your physician regarding your knee?

After you know this information, you should be able to bring your new knowledge to a online brace specialist to help you make the best decision for yourself.

The Sport Does Not Define The Brace

Remember that when you are looking for a knee support for basketball, or for football, or a general ‘sports knee brace’, then should focus first on the questions above. The truth is that there is not one specific kind of support called a ‘basketball knee brace’. So many braces can be used, and they can be called a basketball knee support or a football knee support… You need to immerse yourself more deeply than just searching for a sports knee brace, and these questions above can help you.

Knee Brace Improvements

In addition, remember that due to the improvements in knee supports these days, things have changed. Often times, you do not need to purchase a costly custom knee support. The premium can be too high. Usually, people’s insurance will not cover the knee brace entirely, and as a result, your out of pocket cost will be more expensive than finding a great knee brace online. – A word to the wise.

How To Avoid Getting Ripped Off

Knee braces from orthotists usually cost considerably more than what you can find online. – Just because you can pay more for a brace does not mean that you necessarily should. The truth is that many knee brace providers, in a clinical setting, will push up the price of a knee brace up to 3 times the amount that they purchased it for! – You do not need to overspend, and this guide can can help you get started…

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

A healthy knee can flex, bend and straighten easily and without pain. While the knee’s function may seem simple, a knee injury can be complicated, annoying and painful. Since knees are fundamental to walking, running, kicking and sitting, an injury can derail many of life’s enjoyable activities. If you have suffered a knee injury, your physician can help guide you to the right brace to help rehabilitate and facilitate movement. This guide is intended to offer you a quick summary on what types of knee braces are available and their usefulness.

Post Operative Knee Braces / Post-op Knee Braces As the name implies, these braces are used for post-operative support and rehabilitation. A quality post-op knee brace should be lightweight, but durable. Depending on your rehabilitation needs, you may need a brace with a full range of motion, or one with immobilization or limited range of motion settings. Post-op braces are available in different lengths, often feature moldable pieces, and should be easily adjusted for a perfect fit. Look for breathable materials and user-friendly adjustment features. Functional-OA Knee Brace Osteoarthritis (OA) affects over 20 million Americans and involves the erosion of joint cartilage. A functional-OA knee brace can be used to stabilize knees suffering OA symptoms, reducing pain and additional erosion of the joint. Typically a knee is affected on either the outside (lateral) or inside (medial) of the leg, though it is not unheard of to have a knee with OA symptoms on both sides of the knee. The brace hinge should be situated on the side or sides that are affected, and should be lightweight, durable, and easily adjustable. Since they will be worn for an indefinite prolonged period of time, comfort is very important. Functional-Ligament Knee Brace The stability of the knee joint is maintained by four ligaments, the ACL, PCL, MCL, and LCL. A common sports injury, a torn knee ligament is usually treated with a functional ligament hinged knee brace. Torn or unstable knee ligaments require a lightweight, durable brace that supports the joint. Look for braces that offer the four-point principle for biomechanical stabilization. Contracture Knee BracesA knee contracture is the shortening of a tendon resulting in a restricted range of motion and pain. Under medical supervision, a contracture knee brace can be used to support the knee and increase flexibility over time. Look for adjustment range, comfort, and durability. Padding should be breathable and non-irritating. Contracture and post-op knee braces are occasionally interchangeable.

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

Knees can become unstable when the ligaments are damaged. Common ligament injuries are a PCL injury, an MCL injury, or an ACL injury.

ACL injuries, including complete or partial tears occur when you change direction rapidly, twist without moving your feet or slow down too fast. This type of sudden movement can cause the ACL to stretch or tear.

A PCL injury can occur from hyper-extending your knee or impact to the front of it. Direct impact from the outside of the knee joint can also cause a PCL injury. An example is playing football.

The MCL is usually injured when the outside of the knee joint is struck. This can cause the inside of the knee to widen and the outside to buckle. When the MCL is stretched too far, it may tear or get injured.

All of these types of ligament injuries, including sprains and tears, can cause your knee to become unstable.

You may have problems twisting, pivoting, or turning. You may have trouble walking down stairs or slopes. There are many types of problems that you could experience when you damage the ligaments in your knee. When your knee is unstable, you need a brace that offers a high level of support. Hinged knee braces are ideal when you have knee instability from injured ligaments.

When you have knee instability, you need to ensure that the brace you use will keep you from bending or twisting your knee. What type of brace can help you make sure you don’t do this? Hinged knee braces. These braces work by controlling your knee’s range of motion and are also designed to protect your knees. You can control your knee’s range of motion with hinged knee braces because the brace’s settings are adjustable. You can adjust the settings to control how far you can extend your leg and how much you can flex your leg.

While the rigid strapping system and heavy-duty hinges keep your knee stable, these braces are also dynamic. These braces are called dynamic because they allow for some movement. The goal of hinged knee braces is to simply control movement while keeping the knee supported and stable. Hinged knee braces can be used if you have a knee injury or have just had surgery.

Hinged knee braces are rated as level III braces. Level III braces provide advanced protection and support. The materials used to make level III braces include: neoprene, elastic, fabric, and various types of metals. These braces are made to provide both compression and support. Along with providing support and stability, these braces can help to improve your knee joint’s function and lessen the pain you feel from your injury.

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

If you’ve suffered a sports injury and now have an unstable knee joint you may be considering having knee surgery. Although you should speak to your doctor, it is possible to avoid the necessity of going under the knife for surgery if you simple use knee braces to support your injured knee joint.

There are a number of knee braces that can help you with your knee problems both before and after surgery, if it is necessary.

Functional Knee Braces

Functional knee braces are primarily used for patella dislocation and Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury (ACL) reconstruction, and they have a history of working quite well.

An ACL injury is often the result of having a direct blow to the knee. When it happens people often hear a loud pop immediately after they are injured. Once it happens they will find that they may not be able to move their knee.

Patella dislocations are also caused by direct blows to the knees. Most often they happen after someone falls or is involved in an accident. In addition these injuries can happen if you make a dramatic change in direction while you are running.

If your patella is dislocated and your knee is dislocated you will probably feel intense pain and may not be able to move your knee. And you’ll also find that a short time after the dislocation that the area around your knee will swell and feel tender.

Many sports professionals and athletes have found that functional knee braces are very helpful for ACL and patella injuries. When you wear them you may avoid the need for having surgery.

The only drawback seems to be that you may feel a bit uncomfortable when you wear this brace because it will provide traction to your skin.

Prophylactic Knee Braces

Prophylactic knee braces were designed with the thought that they would be able to prevent knee injuries. The jury is still out on these devices because a number of studies have indicated that they may actually increase the risk of injury by putting additional loads on the knees.

If your doctor advises that you have surgery for your knee injury then it’s highly likely that he or she will prescribe post surgical knee braces that will aid in your recovery. There are two types of post operative knee braces available – rehabilitative braces and transitional braces.

Rehabilitative Knee Braces

This type of brace is used if you have had a knee operation. A rehabilitative knee brace can be essential to the healing process because it gives support and comfort to your injured knee. These braces are often used after ACL, PCL, MCL, or meniscal injuries.

They are also sized a bit longer so that they can give the wearer maximum support while permitting the recovering knee to move freely.

Transitional Knees Braces

Transitional knee braces are a rather an expensive follow up for people who are using rehabilitative braces. These braces are used primarily to avoid surgery and to help prevent any serious injury.

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

A normal and healthy knee is important especially if you are into sports. You can flex, bend and kick your knee without feeling any pain, but when sprains or injury occurs, you cannot move your knee. You need knee brace in order to bring back the flexibility of your knees. While your knee provides a simple function of moving, without those moves, it will be difficult to join any sports let alone walking. Knee braces are your friendly stuff to get you out of this miserable state of injury. Being in sports need a lot of care to keep every part of your body moving especially the knee where the need to run and bend depends.

For sports enthusiasts the problem that often occurs is injury. If you play basketball, volleyball, running and other sports where there is a need of vigorous flexibility, injury happens all the time and it happens at the least expected time.

If you suffer from any injury and is unable to move your knee, considering using knee brace is important, rather than going to a Doctor for surgery, though it is important also to go to a doctor when an injury happens but it would be lighter to feel your knees on knee brace rather than seeing it in surgery.

Knee braces are many and it will be helpful if you know each one of them so that you will be able to use the right kind of knee brace for a specific sports injury.

The so called functional knee brace. They are basically use for injury on the patella and the anterior ligament. It is also use to correct bone dislocation. A functional brace use on the knee works well to this kind of injury. This kind of injury takes place when your knee is hit badly and often times you hear a crack sound from the knee and once it happens, it feels like it is impossible to move.
The prophylactic knee braces. The design is not to be used when an injury happens, but rather it is use as precautionary measures. A prophylactic knee braces are use before indulging into a sports. It gives additional weight to the knee thus supporting it from possible injury or accident.
The rehabilitative Knee Braces. If you suffered from injury and the doctor advice for surgery, a rehabilitative knee brace is used to support the knee. This kind of knee brace is quite longer in size as it allows movement freely while you are on the recovery period.
The transitional knee braces. They are often use after the rehabilitative brace on your knee is removed from your knee. It is used to prevent further injury while you are playing sports.

A knee braces are made to support your knee. Sometimes they are called pads to protect the knee or others call it protective gear pad. Those sports people who use a knee brace can continue playing their sports without having to worry about injury.

How are those knees? Do you suffer from knee pain?

Are you tired of suffering from knee pain?

Are you wondering what you can do about it?

Knee braces are used by people to help treat knee injuries and a wide varitey of knee disorders. While a knee brace can not cure you, they have been known to reduce pain while adding meaningful stability that your knee may very well need! The confidence the DonJoy Comfort Knee Brace can give you, with the support it provides, will help you in many of your daily activities. You will be surprised at how a simple knee brace can help you.

The DonJoy Comfort Knee Brace was designed to provide gentle compression and to help provide support to individuals with a wide variety of knee ailments. The support this knee brace can provide can help people that suffer from knee arthritis, Chondromalacia patella, Bursitis, Tendonitis, and Meniscal tears (before surgery).

When comparing DonJoy’s Comfort Knee Brace (aka DonJoy’s Cartilage Knee Brace) to other knee braces, certain important material comparisons come to mind. For example, many store / pharmacy bought knee braces are made of neoprene. Neoprene is a material that can be helpful, but it can become hot, and it is possible to have an allergic reaction to it. On the other hand, the Comfort Knee Brace is made of a heavy knit cotton, which is more breathable, and is more comfortable than neoprene. In addition, the DonJoy Comfort knee brace provides gentle side to side support, whereas most simple neoprene knee sleeves do not.

Another benefit of this knee brace is that there is a cushion in the front of the knee that provides protection to the knee cap, if it is painful. This can be of help, for example if you are one to ever work while on your knees. This task, of being on your knees, can be hard enough, without complicating your situation with the addition of arthritis, bursitis, or tendinitis etc…

It is important to also note that the DonJoy Comfort Knee brace is much easier to wear because of its low profile design, as compared to some clunky knee braces that are sold.

If you are experiencing pain, as a result of an injury or knee disorder, a quality knee brace can be a useful addition to some, if not most of your daily activities. You can look into getting one, or you can look back, six months from now, wondering what you could have done about your knee pain.

Do not look back six months from now, wondering what you could have done to provide support to your knee. Visit us online to learn more at http://www.drbraceco.com

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

The knee is the largest joint on the human body, and it is also the most used. Your knees take a pounding throughout your lifetime, and almost everyone suffers from a sprained or strained knee at some point in their lives.

Whether you fall awkwardly or jar your knee, spraining or straining the knee joint is a common occurrence.

A sprain is a stretching of the ligaments that join your bones together. This can be debilitating, and of course, very painful. If you suffer from a second or third degree sprain, which involves different degrees of tearing of the ligaments, you can lose your mobility altogether. Sprains can take weeks to heal, and in some cases, physical therapy is needed to gain back all of the movement you had before you suffered a sprained knee. If the knee sprain is severe enough, you may have to undergo surgery to correct the problem.

Strains on the other hand are different, although it sounds a lot like a sprain. Strains, are injuries that involve muscles or tendons; not ligaments. (In this case, we would be still reviewing how it relates to your knee.) Tendons are the tissues that connect muscles to bones. Depending on the level of severity of the injury, a strain maybe a simple overstretch of the tendon or muscle involved, or you may be suffering from a partial or complete tear.

A grade 1,2, or 3 is associated to levels of strains, as is found with sprains. A grade 1 strain is more mild and involves the damage of some muscle fibers. As a result, healing can occur in two to three weeks, unless you reinjure your knee. Supporting your knee in this time period would be a good idea. In a grade 2 strain, there is moderate damage to the muscle or tendon, although it is not completely ruptured. This healing process is longer and can take up to 3-6 weeks. Lastly, in a grade 3 strain, there is a more severe injury and involves a complete rupture. The healing period might take up to three months and may include the need for surgery. Tendons usually do not heal as quickly because they have a more poor blood supply, compared to other tissues in the body. As mentioned earlier, if you have sprained or strained your knee, you should highly consider the use of a well designed knee brace for supportive reasons. More on this later,…

Some symptoms of a knee sprain or strain include:

Swelling Loss of mobility in the knee joint

A grating sound

Numbness Pain

A bulge that was not there before

If you are a sports enthusiast, there is no need to quit sports in order to prevent a knee sprain from occurring. Instead, you could simply try wearing a knee brace. Nothing is perfect, but a well designed knee brace can definately help!

People will often times think that there is a certain knee brace called a ‘football knee brace’ or a ‘basketball knee brace’, but these are just the sports that people can use knee braces for. Many different knee supports can be used while you are participating in sports. For example, if you need a ‘sports knee brace’, this brace should be used in conjunction with the injury that you have, or one you are trying to prevent. (In other words look to your knee pain, and then secondly to the sport you play) Knee braces can help to support the knee, and prevent injuries from occuring. They are fairly inexpensive, if you go to the right provider, and they can be found online. (One valuable piece of information is that you should look for online brace companies that can back up what they are talking about. Most do not have the credentials to speak upon knee braces at all! – Please, we would love it if you prove us wrong).)

Weight lifters also use knee braces quite a bit. It is only logical, since you weight lifters are usually asking their bodies to lift above usual work loads. With almost any exercise that weight has to be carried, a knee brace can be a logical conclusion.

Do you ever have problems with one, or both of your knees?

An Ortho Knee Brace – Finding The Best One Online

Many people are online trying to find the best knee brace for their needs. Keywords like ‘ortho knee brace’ for example, will help you land on the subject of knee braces, but you may be overwhelmed by the amount of information that you come across. – Although you need a knee support, you can get hit with all the different kinds of ‘ortho knee braces’ or ‘medical knee braces’ etc out there, and you may just opt out of getting one because of the sheer number of them available. – We understand, and we can help you make the process more simple.

The Term ‘Ortho Knee Brace’

People will refer to braces as ‘ortho’ knee braces and typically what they mean is an ‘orthopedic knee brace’. You may wish to find a medical grade (orthopedic) knee support, because you might not want to mess with the simple knee supports that you might find at the pharmacy, for example. These pharmaceutical type knee braces for $8.99 might be extremely affordable, but the old phrase ‘you get what you pay for’ may come into play here, if you know what we mean…

How To Access Which Knee Brace You Need

Here are 3 questions that you need to ask yourself before you can make any informed decision on which knee support to get.

1.) What level is my knee pain at on a subjective scale 1-10? (10 being the worst) – If you have knee pain that is sometimes a five out of ten, and sometimes a 2 out of ten, it may be a good idea for you to consider that you have moderate knee pain; not mild knee pain. – The reason for this is that you might bounce up to a 5/10 in the future and you will want the appropriate knee brace for that amount of pain, when it flares up.

2.) What is my knee instability on a scale 1-10 (Same rules apply as what you found in #1)

3.) Has my physician given me any insight to my knee problems via a definitive diagnosis? – Diagnosis by a physician is also very helpful (self diagnosis is not recommended). When you are concerned about your knee discussing things with them is never the wrong idea. (This article can be great in helping you find an effective knee brace, but we are not your physician.)

When you have the answers to these 3 questions you will be able to go to an online site that offers knee braces for different levels of knee pain, instability and/or a certain diagnosis. For example, you will find an ACL knee brace that is good for moderate knee instability. – All of this information will help get you on track. Usually, the more complicated the knee ailment, the more deluxe the knee brace required.

Also, only go to a site where you can talk with a human about your knee problems. The site you visit should readily ask you if you have any questions, and offer their phone number (usually in the upper right hand corner) to discuss your knee brace questions. If they do not, run!

If you would like more free information just like this you can visit us online at http://www.drbraceco.com . Dr. Brace Co. is an education based site that also provides affordable supports for your knee to help improve stability and reduce pain.

I saw this article the other day about Knee Braces and thought you might find it useful.

I understand from personal experience that choosing your first knee brace may be a confusing experience. The most important consideration when selecting knee braces will be the type and severity of your injury. When the wrong knee brace is selected you will do more damage to an already injured knee. For that reason it really is advisable to get your medical professional’s advice before selecting any knee supports. The level of support you need is also an important factor because not enough support might cause more damage and too much support can weaken your body’s natural knee support system. The final item to consider in choosing knee supports is the cost. In my opinion if I find a brace that allows me to function as normally as possible, the price tag isn’t much of an issue. Knee braces may be categorized in many ways, but I prefer these:

Hinged Knee Braces contain metal or alloy reinforcements along the sides for maximum lateral or medial stability and support. The hinges vary from a simple single hinge to more elaborate multiple hinges to provide more normal knee motion. Other feature may include stop pins to regulate how much the knee is allowed to flex. The hinged knee brace works for moderate to bad knee joint injuries and is often used in high-impact/ high movement sports. Hinged knee braces can cost from $30 to many hundred dollars depending on type of hinge and construction on the brace.

Stabilized Knee Braces don’t have solid metal hinges but may have additional features to deliver additional support than simply a simple elastic sleeve. At the low end you’ll have a neoprene knee brace that provides heat and circulation benefits usually with a opening to keep the patella in place and free of pressure. Many stabilized knee braces have flexible steel springs sewn in the material on the side or have elastic straps the can be adjusted for extra support. These braces are popular Knee pain or injuries like meniscus, tendinitis, bursitis, arthritis or patella problems will benefit from these knee braces.

Wrap Around Knee Braces are simple to use because it’s not necessary to slide them on your knee. They simply wrap around around your knee and can be easily adjusted for comfort and support. Most often they don’t give the same amount of support as a sized knee support however they have the advantage of adjustable compression for minor knee sprains, arthritis and patella tracking. Some manufacturers have increased the support levels significantly so that you get the advantages of a stabilzed knee brace with the convenience of a wrap around knee brace.

Basic Knee Braces tend to be simple elastic sleeves that pull over your knee and offer minimum support. You can find these simple knee braces in any drug or convenience store. The padded knee support versions are primarily for protection from contact. Magnetic knee support provides the added benefit of imbedded magnets which some think have unique healing powers.
